The first two periods of every day she spent supervising the attendalice girls and posting alvsernresg the rest of tl1e day she supervised 1I1e grridante office helpers and posted items on the students four year cards. Mrs. Jolley, the receptionist at the Ad- ministration Building, spent most of the year behind the switchboard channeling calls and taking messages. Her other duties in- cluded bookkeeping, handling tuition Stll- clents and work permits, and other general office work. Mrs. Rickard, secretary to the Superin- tendent, made out the budget for the school and acted as the main bookkeeper. O O KING TELLE The Principal of Valparaiso High School, Mr. King Telle, had the big responsibility of making many de- cisions during the past year. With his keen sense of humor and his loyal school spirit he made V.H.S. run smoothly. I-le was known for his exuberance at pep sections and his cheering inspired our cheer, One More Blast! Mr. Telle began his career at V.H.S. with an A.B. from Hanover College and an M.S. from Indiana University. ALFRED HENKEL and JAMES MUNDY This past year Mr. Alfred Henkel's job as guidance director was the largest it has ever been. He took care ofall the students' schedules, helped the seniors decide their future plans, worked out the four year program for each freshman, counseled with students, and gave a number of tests. Mr. Henkel received his A.B. degree from Valparaiso University and his M.A. from Northwestern University. The Assistant principal, Mr. James Mundy, had charge of attendance. He also kept track of lockers and their combina- tions, directed the hall monitors, sponsored the Student Coun- cil, and saw that sick students got home. He received his B.S. and M.A. from Ball State Teachers College. THOMAS ROBERTS Mr. Roberts, the Industrial Coordinator at V.H.S. , whose job is to supervise the maintenance of the city schools and school construction, received his B.S. degree from Ball State Teachers College and his M.S. from Iowa State College.
