This is the story of Valparaiso High School . . . in the year l952 . . . its 'growth and development . . . its enthusiasm . . . its joys and pleasures . . . its mem- ories . . . its regrets and disappointments . . . its con- tributions and achievements . . . its school spirit . . . and its individuality . . . all of which will some day be missed so much. First is the framework of the story, our teachers. They are the basis from which we learn and build our lives year by year. Ready to help us whenever we need them, they are behind us in all that we do. Second, are the elements of the story . . . our happy times, memories, activities of the year, clubs, and sports. The crispy fall evening of Homecoming, the snow- flakes and mistletoe of the Christmas formal, Marrin' Sam at Sadie Hawkins, the -girls' invitations to the Turn-About-Trot and Gold Diggers' Dance, and the swishy formals with summer moonlight at the prom, will be remembered by all. The action of our story is the activities . . . clubs, plays, concerts, and parties. The conflict of the story presents our sports . . . football . . . basketball . . . track . . . G.A.A. . . ., all of which were not only backed by our over-whe1m- ing school spirit, but played with real teamwork in which each man put forth his very best in each sport. Last is the development of the story. We see the classes in action. The students grow year by year from the beginning as bewildered freshmen until they reach the end of their journey as . . . seniors! This, however, is not the end of our story. It is only the beginning, as the seniors step out into the wait- ing world which holds in store for them, college, jobs, and marriage. Editor. 4
