Kozlenko, B Selman FUTURE HOME-MAKERS OF AMERICA knowledge and interest in home economics, the Future l-lomemakers of America Club was formed three years ago. This year the club is going stronger than ever. The F. H. A. is a national organization, and this year our club sent delegates to the convention at Buck Creek, Indiana. As a re- sult, Marilyn Bundy returned with the honor of having been elected district treasurer. During the year, the club has met every other Wednesday after school in the small room off the foods laboratory. This room is really the office of Mrs. Fields, the new Home EC teacher and sponsor of this organization. This year the club has participated in such activities as having two dinners, spon- soring a semi-formal dance which was called the Gold Diggers' Ball , preparing a box to send to Korea, and holding a Mothers Day Tea. The club is-headed this year by a new science instructor, Mr. Doe-den. The purpose of this organization is to further the knowledge of these students as far as science is concerned, 'Many of the new scientific inventions, theories, and de- vices are discussed at the meetings by vari- ous professors from the Valparaiso University or the Valparaiso Technical Institute. Field trips are also taken to such establishments as the Indiana Steel Company and the Mil- ler Laboratory. The biggest field trip of all is a day spent at the Museum of Science and lndustry on the Monday of our spring vaca- tion following Easter. This has proved to be an interesting as 'well as an educational organization.
