Senior Class Officers: Donald Nelson, Secretaryy Terry Murphy, Treasurer, Edwin Gutt, Presidentg Charles Swynenburg, Vice-President. 7Qe glade! of f95f ln September, 1947, 139 freshmen met for the first time in room 102 at Valparaiso High School. At this time, the present grad- uating class of 1951 originated. As the first lap on its four-year journey started, the class elected George Kilavos, president, Bob Bailey, vice-president, and William Iohnston, secretary-treasurer. Also, Susy Brownell, jim Brownell, Charles Swyn- enberg, and Bob Bailey were elected Stu- dent Council representatives. As freshies' the members participated in the usual acti- vities - freshmen initiation CMy, how those paddles hurtll, homecoming parade, and dances. Bob Bailey, presidentg Charles Swynen- berg, vice-president, and Ronald Buls, sec- retary-treasurerg were the officers elected by the 124 sophomores in 1948. Now the class was getting into the swing of things, with everyone enjoying clubs and activities. Don- na Grieger, Kenneth Woodruff, Bob Bailey, and Terry Murphy were the Student Coun- cil representatives. Senior Class Sponsors: Miss ln 1950, 130 upper classmen juniors were progressing rapidly on their journey. Terry Murphy was elected president, Glen Ridg- way, vice-president, lane Maxwell, -secre- tary-treasurerg and George Kilavos, Cynthia Doran, Vernette Dalke, Charles Swynen- berg, Terry Murphy, and Glen Ridgway were elected Student Council representa- tives. The juniors, having completed their English 5 speech course, held the annual speech banquet. This was truly enjoyed by all, and none of the class will ever forget their toastmistress. Then it was May and time for the junior-Senior promenade. The effect produced by the theme, Moonlight and Roses , was very beautiful, and worth all the work and effort put forth by each member of the class. It is the end of the journey now, and there are 108 graduating seniors who will receive their diplomas on june 7, 1951. 1 am sure that each one of these seniors can and does look back on his four years at Val- paraiso High School with feelings of hap- piness and friendships gained from his class. McGillicuddy, Mr. May, Mrs, Foor.
