ACTIVITIES GF THE VALLIANT F F A CHAPTER DURING 1948 49 Our annualFather and Son banquet was held 1nSt1ew1g Hall Aprll 14 1948 The food was prepared and served by the Home Eco Department under the superv1s1on of IXIIISS Etta Jane Grant The Home Economxc Instructor There were 210 present Cur pr1nc1pal speaker was Mr Carl P Thompson of the Ammal Husbandry department at St1llwater Oklahoma A and lVl College We entered a gra1n Judg1ng team ID the lnterscholastlc meet at St1ll water Apr1l Z4 The members of the team were Jlm Honeywell Eugene Reeves Ruel Ba1n Thls team placed second On Aprll Z3 .Ilm Honeywell and RuelBa1n represented the Chapter at the annual state convent1on at St1llwater Durlng the month of August several of our Chaptermembers and local c1t1zens along w1th our adv1sor helped construct a l1vestock bu1ld1ng on the fa1r grounds at Idabel Our school enrollment began August 31 We enrolled 53 members 1n Vocat1onalAgr1culture Our Adv1sor and Chapter membe rs helped sponsor a one daycQ1nmun1ty and lad1es homework We were told by out of town v1s1tors that our fa1r exh1b1ts were of exceptlonally good quahty We made 18 entr1es 1n our countyfa1r at Idabel Of these 9 were lst 6 became Znd place wlnners and 3 were 3rd place wmners We also had some 7 or 8 entr1es whlch d1d not place Thanks to the busmess men of McCurta1n county the pr1ce recelved for l1vestock was except1onally h1gh The steers averaged approxlmately 50 cents per pound and hogs approxlmately 44 cents per pound We now have a Southeast D1str1ctorgan1zat1on of F F A adv1sors and off1cers of wh1ch our chapter 15 a member The chapter plans to enter f1ve teams ln the 1nterscho1ast1c meet at St1llwater th1s com1ng Apr1l a gra1n team l1vestock team da1ry team hort1culture team and a meats Judgmg team. We plan to attend the state convent1on at that txme We also plan to have our father and son banquet somet1me 1n Apr11 and a F F A p1cn1c 1n May fair September 17, 1948.
