Pursuing the subject the students presented the idea to many including the Executive Council of PTA, Civic Association, North High Faculty student Council and the District Com- Education. Ronnie Levine, vice-president of the Student Council, will be co- chairman for the day with Joanne Karlin. Representatives from the Black Panthers, Womens' Liberation, Quakers, American Legion, Conservative Party, Young Americans for Freedom tYAFi, Womens' Strike for Peace, Moratorium, BRIDGE, War Resistors, Vista, Peace Corps, atheletes, convicts, and other groups are being asked to speak in the morning. In the afternoon, talented students in the fields of art, music, home economics, or industrial arts will lecture andfor demonstrate their skills. The basic theme of the day is communication. Twenty-nine VSN seniors were awarded New York State Regents Scholarships. Grants ranging from S250 to 31,000 per year. depending on financial need. will be given to each of the winners, and may be used toward tuition of any school in the state. The winners are Marianne Berg, Ira Bernstein, Susan Beut- tenmueller, 'Gregory Borman, Joel Breger, Kenneth Con- stantine, Leslie Edrich, Noel Guardi, Arnold Karr, Henry Kelston, Richard Kopecky, Robert Lee, Ronald Levine, Alice Linder, Paul Magdalin, Neil Makstein, Keith Meyer, Ann Miano, Steven Morgeristern, Kenneth Rotner, Paula Sacks, Howard Samuels, Marie Ann Sarchiapone, Peter Sayre, Richard Schonberg, Larry Siegler, Remy Welling, Eric Wolinsky, and Richard Zuflacht. Eleven seniors who scored between 200 and 222 points on the exam were awarded alternate scholarships: Hilary Berger, Joyce Bloom, Lauren Brown, Thomas Cronin, Robin Kalder, Joanne Karlin, David North, Jay Pront, Joan SchmiQ, Judith Skolnick and Anne Zipser. 'N fi -Q37 Louise Cuccurullo and Sena Messer Seniors Visit Wanda June' Happy Birthday, Wanda June, a new play by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., was viewed by ,several senior English classes on January 6, under the supervision of Mrs. Ponemon. Prior to the play, the students had the option of. visiting one or more of several museums in the area. The performance of Wanda June starred Kevin McCarthy as Harold Ryan - .a tough bawdy hero-of-all-wars who returned home after he was thought missing for eight years. The play deals with the reactions of Ryan's wife, her two suitors, and her son to Ryan's unexpected homecoming and'what follows. Julie Sheinberg and Valerie Krall The Junior High Mathletes, which is now in first place in its league is composed of two teams, one representing the seventh and eighth grades and one representing the ninth grade. Both teams are under the direction of Mr. Botti. The ninth grade team, includes Alan Katz, Howard Weizman, Mike Messing and Bob Sass. Howard Weizman has ac- cumulated the highest score. In the seventh and eighth grades Daniel Torosian and Ricky Berger are high scorers respectively. On January 12, the team played at South High School. There will be a meet at North on Februarv 2, and a final meet at Memorial on March 9.
