IT cer+ainly oTTers youngsTers, who would be classi- Tied as Terminal sTudenTs because They are Turned oTT by The everyday drudgery oT academic work Trom which They see no TuTure, new visTas and new careers, and in many cases has helped when They had To come back To Take The academic courses. BuT iT also, Tromg Talking To many youngsTers, has helped Them, or aT leasT pushed Them in The direcTion oT going on Tor Their educaTion. They Tinally Tound a Tield oT educaTion in which They can excel. All youngsTers, in spiTe oT The TronT ThaT They puT up, wanT To excel in some- Thing. even Though They knock school. NineTy-nine percenT oT The youngsTers wanT To do Tairly well'in iT. WhaT has Turned oTT many oT The youngsTers - I mean if They've haTed Trom The TirsT grade To The TenTh grade - ThaT They obviously geT Turned oTT by an educaTional insTiTuTion. BuT now BOCES is oTTering These youngsTers someThing ThaT is relevanT To Them - of Tremendous inTeresT - currenTl IT doesn'T sTop There, iT goes on To open Their eyes To oTher meanings oT educa- Tion. They Tind ouT +ha+ school isn'T as all a drudge as They Think iT is. However, I Think The overall BOCES program has done quiTe well by The youngsTers. And mosT of The youngsTers I have Talked To, aside Trom This objecTion To being bounced around, seem To Teel ThaT iT is a worThwhiIe program. 117
