Miss Mary Graham Smith Cbairmmz en gl ' h Yes, you have to read that 'decayed' classic. No, you may not finish your timed writing at home. Yes, I said Quiz. No, I don't believe your dog ate your English assignment. Such are the woes of an English teacherg petty and inconsequential when compared to those of an Iinglish student. How was I supposed to know you meant principle with an Ie ? I c.1n't help it if my Math book has the same cover. And for every happy moment there is a distressing oneg finishing a composition five minutes early and then breaking your eraser before erasing your one-inch mar- gins, staying up all night to read a book and then being quizzed on the one chapter you skipped, taking fifty notecards and then discovering they're on the wrong topic, watching the television version of the book you were supposed to read and then finding out the author sued the company for using the title of his book . . . . Nothing can mar the ioy of the supreme discovery- I actually understood that decayed classic without even reading the Cliffs Notes! ,R . 'V w wk 1 v-. My voice is quivering, my hands are perspiring and my eyes won't focus on my crumpled 5X8 cards. It seems like I've been speaking for eternities. Thank goodness-it's over. Why is Mr. Lackman taking . . so long to grade it? I-le's calling me over now. An A , My speech got an And I wasn't even nervous. -L, top: Mr. Ronald W. Lackman boltom: Miss Rachelle Leicht Hbrary A quiet room which provides a good work atmosphere, the library becomes alive with shoving, screaming students grappling for books around term paper time. After three trips to the library just to find out where the biography section is, joy turns to hysteria as you rush to the library Monday afternoon, only to find a closed room full of gossiping teachers. Even when the student leaves ample time to finish a report, Qlike one weekendj, he can be heard exclaiming, Whad'ya mean magazines don't circulate? Contrary to the way numerous study halls operate, the library offers refuge to students who like their sneezes to be answered with Gesundheit, not a detention card. iii cfii'fTnhraAldiQkA Mr. john Malnosky ei? , in .A gi X I , ' .'
