reading Equipped with an extensive library and workshop area, the reading department helps students make the adjustment between ele- mentary and high school reading. Skills are improved by the corrective and development- al training the department offers. How the student approaches the textbook of a particular course is also of concern to Miss Patterson, who coordinates her efforts with those of the classroom teacher. When this happens he can seek the aid of the school psychologist, Mr. Yaca- lis. Simultaneously working with family, teachers and guidance counselors, Mr. Yacalis helps students overcome their difficulties and re-adjust to academic life. Or how she knew that the thermometer read 1040 because I stuck it in the radiator when she wasn't looking. Or that I really couldn't see the big E on the eye chart.
