Outstanding performances by members of the Varsity Track team provided the necessary excitement during the meets, de- spite an overall disappointing season. Gary Grieger, compet- ing in the 440 yard dash continually recorded low times in defeating his opponents. Terry Sullivan starred in both the high jump and dashes, while Ed Primeggia achieved victories in the triple jump and broad jump. Juniors who showed promise were Ed Beddow and Cliff Siskin competing in the low-hurdles and Mark Schneider, Harold Guberman and Richard Laser comprising the relay team.

Mackay, A. Strauss, R. Fogel. One of the prominent strengths of the Varsity Baseball team was the number of outstanding juniors that developed to complement the fine squad of seniors. With junior pitch- ers Ted Sperdakos, Arnie Strauss, and Steve Drezner and hitters such as Vinnie Dini, Peter Pront and Tom DiGanci leading the team, next year's squad should prove to be successful. Avenging their first game loss to Hempstead the Spartans came back with a 6-2 victory in their second meeting, high- lighted by Steve Drezner's 13 strikeouts. Later in the season against arch-rival South, North again emerged victorious, 6-0. Bob Fogel, jack Newcombe, and Mike Hays made out- standing contributions at bat and in the field throughout the season.
