basketball 2-I Coach Rosenberg in his second season as Varsity Basketball coach, attempted to rebuild his team by concentrating his efforts on the improvement of the younger players. One of the brightest aspects of the Cagers season was the ascension of junior jackie Mac- Kay to the position of team leader and to one of the finest all around players in North High School his- tory. In an outstanding performance against the formidable Roosevelt team, MacKay broke the school record by scoring 36 points and almost inspired a sur- prising upset. In spite of his fine performances the teams overall inexperience proved too much of an obstacle to overcome and it finished last in the section. I. to r. H. Shapirog N. McGowang F. Levineg R. riflery I 4 - O The Riflery team proved to be most successful of any of the winter sport's squads, placing first in their league and second 'in the county championships. Led by an overpowering array of sharpshooters, the team defeated all of its regular season opponents with apparent ease and continued on to defeat all of the top teams in the county until it lost a close match to V. S. Central in the county finals. Individual stars such as junior Cliff Wallach, and seniors Ted Sperdakos, Richard Wishin and Alex Chernoff, continued impressive ef- forts throughout the season and enabled Coach Burns to fulfill his high pre-season expectations. l r. 511-me l. .recond row: Mr. Burnsg R.
