Lawrence Wfelk? -No, Laurence Mital o rc h e s tra The closing doors throughout the language hall mean only one thing-it is eighth period orchestra practice. Whether the whole orchestra or merely the string section, the orchestra rehearses with Mr. Mital for forty-five minutes each day in preparation for its many con- certs. The Holiday Assembly, given for the whole school, is a combina- tion of popular holiday songs with soloists and featured groups, ending with the traditional Hallelujah Chorus. There is also the Winter Concert in March and the Pop Concert in May. Members of the orchestra play in the Valley Stream District Orchestra which performs at the annual District Music Festival and during the summer in free concerts on the Village Green. The theatre orchestra which performed in My Fair Lady was also comprised of orchestra mem- bers who were picked for their outstanding ability. I get excited about concerts too!
