student council elections Council Elections becomes a fight to see which party can spend the most money on campaigns. Thumbs Up, chaired by Aileen Gould and Steve Evans, distributed combs, rulers, pens and telephone dialers. jeff Tabak, the leader of PLAN retaliates with larger combs, buttons and rulers. Students choose their parties and attend numerous fund- raising dances with bands and refreshments. In return for this support, the candidates promise a student lounge, pop music to fill the lunchroom, and a coke machine. After hearing all the speeches and deciding who are the best-quali- fied Spartans, students go to the polls and elect Richie Horowitz, Doug Falk, Karen Schonberg, Dickie Bentley and Linda Balogh. ii . , 'Q ' '4'i'. i Steve Evans, Pre.ride1zt seniors We soon discovered that the senior year was not as easy as we were led to believe. Somehow there seemed to be piles of school- work and extracurricular activities that were just begging for senior participation. Magazine Drive Chairmen Sue Edrich and Marty Rabach, assisted by high salesman Phil Friedberg, helped the Class of '68 to sell 312,000 worth of magazines, a new record. Striking Maria Fragola was chosen as North High's Queen and reigned at the Coronation Dance and the North-South game, which we won 12-6. Our entry in the float parade was Maya, featuring a life-size elephant planned and executed by Bruce Bedney and Phil Friedberg. The winning Senior One-Act Play, Impromptu, was directed by jeff Tabak and Lori Sands and starred Steve Miller, Laurie Gordon, Liz Malesk, and Eric Richard. Barbara Casino was named valedictorian and Mitch Blair, salutatorian. Our six years together ended with the longest prom weekend ever held, starting with the prom at the Four Seasons Country Club and stretching through the Memorial Day weekend. Enthusiastic prom chairmen were Cindy Greenspan and Steve C the Schwanj Schwartz. The Senior Dinner followed with seniors grabbing yearbooks and eagerly flipping through the pages that hold the memories of our years at North.
