ninth grade Guided by Richard Horowitz, the freshman year is one of new experiences and adventure. Finally considered old enough to brave North's perilous halls alone, we are split up in homeroom and expected to find each class by our- selves and, before the late bell. Spurred on by Dickie Bentley and Steve Schwartz, float chairmen, we create our first float, the prize winning Disneyland, Thrilled by this success, we open our first booth at the junior Carnival and monkey to the beat of the Sideburns at our Olympics dance. Miss Nechi is replaced by Mrs. Heath-the second in what is to be a long list of guidance counselors. eighth grade We made it through the year of loneliness and jammed lockers, only to realize that we're really not bigger than we were last year. Mr. Brown, our social advisor discovers a project-collecting tea-tags to buy a seeing-eye dog for a blind person. So, led by president Steve Miller, we hold a dance and charge an admission price of five tea-tags only to find out that the whole thing is a fraud. At our next dance Richie Alexander and Arlene Grotsky waddle'i their Way to victory in the dance Contest to the beat of a real band. tenth grade As we enter our sophomore year, we discovered, for a change, that we have a new guidance counselor, Mr. How- ard Lutz. Our security unshattered, we look forward to an exciting year under President jon Ciner's direction. In lieu of the traditional sophomore movie, we have our Autumn Dance, featuring the Ivy Five. Encouraged by the success of this event, we courageously face the task of building a float. Steve Schwartz and Teri Marsh supervise as Archie grows, but the poor boy has an accident on the way to Fireman's Field, and we win no prizes this year. Undaunted, we look to our first One-Act Play to repair our wounded pride. Under the direction of Lee Blum and Margie Marks, we present Eric Richard as a Latin lover wooing Spanish senorita, Laurie Gordon, it is a prize winning play-we win ticket sales. To compensate for this defeat, joan Levine and Sue Edrich, acting as co-chairmen for our Magic Wand booth at the junior Carnival, boost our spirits by replenishing the grade treasury. At the conclusion of the year, we are ready.to meet the challenge of the 11th grade.
