Science With the increasing emphasis on science in the world, Central's Science Department, under the chairmanship of Mr. Hills, has a very important task. The student must learn the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and physics. The department, however, aims for a still higher goal: the student's use of his intelligence in logical thinking and reasoning. Row 1, left to right: Mr. Fromhartz, Mr. Hills. All Centralites take four years of English to learn to express themselves clearly and concisely and to gain a background which will enable them to enjoy and appreciate the literature of many nations. The English Department, under the direction of Mrs. Stearn, has devised curricula to benefit different types of students. Enriched courses in English II and English IV are offered to those capable of more advanced literary work, and an English IV course in composition is offered to those who wish to improve their writing techniques. Our English Departments most im- portant accomplishment is aiding us to appreciate life itself through reading, discussion, and written expression. 17
