In Memoriam EDWARD CLEAR 1932-1959 Although Mr. Clear taught at Central for only one year, he left a lasting impression upon faculty and students alike for his charming smile, friendly manner, and ready greeting. His evenness of disposition and patient manner with his students won them completely. His interest in people was genuine, his concern for members of the teams he coached, serious and constant. He graduated from Central High School where he was captain of the basketball team in his senior year. He went to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, on a basketball scholarship. As a post-graduate student at Lehigh he coached freshman basketball. The army called him for two years. In the army he made the rank of first lieutenant. While stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, he coached the post basketball and softball teams. In September of 1958 he came to Central to teach history and to coach the basketball team. His death in September of 1959 was a tragic shock to all who recognized his worth as a worker among young people, his promise as a teacher, and his fine character as a young man with a future. He is survived by his young daughter, Maryanne, and his wife, Anita.
