,- miss msnmv he year was nineteen hundred forty-two, a memorable year for all of the dignified seniors who are about to take .the long step from high school into the big, wide world. Among the students sitting in the first grade class room that year were Patsy Wil1iams,Joyce W.ilkie,Gladys Ray, Kaye Gasperson, Chris- tine McDonald, Sibyl Ledbetter, Betty Lou Lance, Billie Sue Hollifield. Tru- ette Gasperson,Mary Anne Elingburg,Charles Bowles,Bil1 Corn, Jack Creas- man, William Presley. and Ralph Presley. They were one big ha ppy family up to the second grade when Kaye Gas- pe r s on left and they were one less, but only for a while, for along about this time came Arville Bishop and Adelaide Souther. No more da ma ge was done this year, but in the third grade Kaye Gasperson was back again. Everything went along s m oothly then until the fourth grade when Kaye left. QBoy. did that girl travel.l ' Then the fifth grade rolled around. Marguerite Thain a r rived and her pl ea sing quiet ways clashed with the noise of the other little darlings and was a welcomed change to the teachers. , Along came the sixth grade and the tea che rs were tempted to go home and not come ba c k for Orves Young appeared on the scene. Poor teachers ! And on top of that, Lois Lefler sh owed up in the seventh grade. During the next year the eighth grade -teachers had the shock of their lives in the form of Mary Jane Moorhead. Vance Hawes, and Kenneth McBee. Everyone was just ge tting 'over this when Estie Worley, Clark Brown, and Max Smith put in their appearance the freshman year of high school. iAf- ter all, everybody gets to high school after so long a time. Even seniors have to be freshmen first., ' Well-, in the sophomore year, Boyce Meece graced the V. S. H. S. campus with his handsome face. and that rambling gal, Kaye Gasperson, came back to dear old Valley Springs School and believe it or not, this time she stayed! Then came the eleventh grade with'no newc om e r s and the most looked forwa rd to the Junior-Senior Banquet. This was an occasion to be remem- bered. The boys all de c ked out in their well-creased pants and the girls in their new formals looked entirely different to the faculty who had gazed upon blue-jeans and bobby socks for such a long time. - ' Everything remained peaceful until the senior year. Then it was every- one for himself. But, truthfully, everyone settled down for hard work the annua.1,the newspaper. senior play, and other things have kept busy. The senior class is r e pr e s e n te d by six teams, two members of the cheerleading squad, and five patrol. , - nNow that invita tion s and cards have been ready and looking forward to wea r ing tho s e caps that long aisle to those lon g awaited diplomas, and from the of life. The seniors ot' 1954 have loved and enjoyed the play they have known in nthese past twelve years. They but they take with them all the pleasant memories as rate way, ' S
