Tanjo is here as an exchange srudenr through Pacific Inrerculrural Exchange. While staying in Valley Park Tanja is living wirh Coach Frank and Nancee Wilhire along wirh Frank's sister Karhy and mother, Annie. Tanja likes staying wirh them. They are alor of fun and hove things she wishes she had such as a dog, car, and horses. They are also very helpful wirh her school work and wirh explanations of differenr words she doesn't understand. Since Tanja has been here she has experienced many things she has never done before such as horseback riding, rollerskating, and she celebrated in the first rime Halloween, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. Rollerskating proved to be Tanja's downfall. On her first outing she fell and broke her wrisr, her second broken bone since coming to the United Stares. Tanja broke her left arm ar the beginning of basketball season. Tanja has adopted well to American food. Her favorite American foods: corn chips, macaroni and cheese, chocolate chip cookies, rrour wirh almonds, pop corn, french fries, carrot cake, pumpkin pie, and chicken soup don't quire measure up to a balanced diet. The only foods she misses from home are plum dumplings, cheese pie, and Turkish coffee. Tanja likes American television very much. She especially enjoys the variety since there are only two channels in Yugoslavia. The Jeffersons are my favorite show. It was the first television show in America I saw. After Tanja has spent five days in New York, she will return to Yugoslavia July 15,1982, to rake several exams in the summer to see if she may go on to college. VPHS, faculty and students will miss Tanja. 67 PHYLLB LEA DUNN God gronr me rhe serenity ro occepr the things I connor change, courage ro change rhe things I can, and rhe wisdom ro know rhe difference ” Student Council Rep 1.
