EDICATIQN E, THE STAFF of the l946 edition of the Valley High School annual, wish to dedicate it to the return of peace to the world, and to devote our- selves to the preservation of this peace. We are fortunate in being the first class in five years to graduate in a world without war. We go to make our way in the long heralded post-war era. We are thankful to our God who has given us a peace that many young men and women have never known: thankful for our beautiful country left unmolested by the warg thankful to the men who helped gain this peace: sorrowful for the ones who did not come back. But with this blessing of peace comes a great and inevitable responsibilitye- the responsibility of bringing our nation unscathed through the battle of peace. lt is up to us to prove to those men that their country and its people were worth it all, to prove that our future farmers, doctors, teachers and laborers will work to preserve that which they won. And always, while doing this, they will set the example in tolerance, democracy, and freedom for the rest of the recovering world. We possess the irreplaceable right to further our education, if we see fit. lt is not our lot to be taken from our first taste of manhood and be thrust onto some foreign field to defend our principles. Our future is a peaceful world, a world in which to build a better World. To the building of this world we dedicate our all. May we set our goals high: may we so enlist the help of God that we can be successful in doing what so many before us have failed to accomplish. May we never rest until we have reached the point where we can look eye to eye with the men who gave us this opportunity. Let us continue unchecked until we can be sure that this will be the last dedication of its kind. 2
