The bricks were molded and burned by the slaves. The interior woodwork is hand-carved cherry, the winding stairs has wooden pegs instead of nails. General Buell and his army camped here during the Civil War. THE GOVERNOR MERRIWETHER HOME This old homestead, a relict of slave days, is now occupied by three branches of the James R.
