CLASS PROPHECY Seated around our banquet table are the graduates of '58. Starting from my right is Miss Mary Andrews, who is secretary to Mr. President, Mark Buzzard. S he says it is a tough job, because it's awfully hard to take dictation on the boss's knee . Miss Nancy Byrd has be come the first female Elvis Pre sley. Mis s Charlotte Carpenter owns a chain of drug stores. She has gotten a trophy because she has sold more pills than Mr. Carter. Whom do we see at the head of a kindergarten class, none other than Miss Roberta Chamblin. Mrs. Jackie Terry, the former Miss Millie Ferrell, is now secretary for her husband, because she doesn't want anyone else to have lunch with him. Mr Billy Fleshman is building model ships for all his Little Fleshmans. Mr. Tommy Fordhas buiLt the fastest car in the world because he remembers how long it took him to get to Clifton Forge. Miss June Gaylor, who didn't get to be football queen, is now the beautiful Miss America of '68 Mr. William Giles is now in the ministry and holding more se rvice s than Billy Graham. Mrs. Jerry Brinkley, the former Miss Pat G a z z o L a , has an orange plan¬ tation in Florida. She says orange juice has made all the Little Brinkleys healthy. Miss Anna Mae Harold is working for her brother-in-law as a secretary. She says that it's easy because she keeps the boss laughing, and he doesn't give her any work to do. Mr. P. C. He Iminto 1 le r is the world's fastest walker. Mr. Helmintoiler says thatcars are too slow so he would just as soonwalk. Mrs. Carl May, the former Miss Madge Hiner, is writing a book, ' 'The Ouicke st W ay to Get That Diamond. 1 ' Mr. Aubrey Hodge has invented a jet that flies faster than sight. Miss Dorothy Hodge is a nurse and an embalmer. Mr. S t u a r t Judy owns the T railway Busses. Just think, he started at the bottom by driving a school bus. Miss Jodie Dayton is Secretary to the Commander of the Navy. She arrived in her private ship, The Beyte. Mrs. BillHoover, the former Mis s W ilma Layton, owns achain of super¬ markets, Mrs. Hoover says this is the only way we could feed nine Little Hoovers cheaply. On my left is Mr . L loyd Lindsay , who is a Virginia S tate Trooper. He is not a successful ticket writer because women have gone to flying jets. Miss Margaret Liptrap, who now is the head of the Navy Nursing Department in Florida, seems to have a great many patients. Mr. Leon Madison is in the Army studying his Senior English to get caught up on what he didn't get during the year. Miss Betty May is secretary to the Burruss Corporation. She says it is awfully hard to type while riding a horse's back. Mr. Ernie May is now filling prescriptions in the Hot Springs Drug Store instead of Mr. Jack Williams. Mr. Holmes McLaugh¬ lin has now gotten a secretary to keep in contact with him; she is Miss Carolyn Martin. It seems that when all of the televisions are out of order, no one gets called but Mr. Eddie McALLister. Miss Margaret McComb is now in Florida picking oranges to be shipped back to her home state. Mr. Wayne Peery is fLying his own private air pLane since he joined the Air Force. Mr. Harold Fisher advertised for a secretary and no one would answer but Miss W an da Redman. Mrs. Rolf Holmes, the former Miss Mary Snead, is the superintendent at the Holmes' Nursing Home, nursing Little Holmeses. Since Miss Georgie Simpson is a beau¬ tician, every girl is going to her to get an ElvisPresley hair cut. As we Lookfarther left, we see the well-groomed beautician, Miss Rose Marie Smith. Mr. Columbus Shifflett has taken Mr. Jack Matthews ' place as coach atValley. Mr. Jean Waskey has taken over as the boys Physical Education teacher. Mr. EarL Williams is working his way through V.P.I. by picking up paper off the campus grounds. As we come to the end of the class we see as secretary of the United States Information Agency in Washington, D. C., Miss Violet Wolfe . Seniors at Work and Play 18
