Linda Bock, Natalie Borg. 1979- 1980 As we started our first year of high school, graduation and 1983 seemed like years away. We started off a typical high school year with the elec- tion of officers: Tammy Overcash, president; Gary Tompkins, vice-president; Marty Johnson, treasurer; Paul Hohenbery, secretary; and Stephanie Parker, S.C. Representative. As our money making project for the year, we sold magazines with the yearbook staff to earn $100 for the treasury. For Homecoming we chose Kim Hulet and Marty Johnson as the attendants. We also busily decorated the halls and the car for “Spirit Week.” With the help of our sponsors. Miss Peggy Carlile and Mrs. Jayne Fentem, the class of 1983 survived a successful first year of high school. 1980- 1981 The class of '83 started the sophomore year by electing new officers: Marty Johnson, president; Gary Tompkins, vice-president; Shelly Timmons, secretary-treasurer; and Melinda Heikes, S.C. Representative. Tami Shreves and Steve Delach were chosen Homecoming attendants. The class sold M M’s to make money for the next year’s Junior Prom. February 2, 1981, was a big day for the sophomore class — we ordered the class rings. By the end of the sophomore year, many of us had our driver’s licenses and the rest were anx- iously awaiting their 16th birthday. 1981- 1982 The junior year was a very busy one. The class again started the year by electing officers: Shelly Timmons, president; Melinda Heikes, vice- president; Brolene Bensema, secretary-treasurer; and Natalie Borg, S.C. Representative. Brolene Bensema and Ronnie Utsinger were chosen to represent the junior class at Homecoming. The juniors also had several money making projects — the big one being the concession stand at football and basketball games — to earn money for their prom. The prom was held at the Peoria Continen- tal Regency on May 8. The theme was “Endless Love” and Brolene Bensema and Marty Johnson were elected Princess and Prince. 1982- 1983 The big year was finally here — we were SENIORS! The senior class officers were Shelly Timmons, president; Melinda Heikes, vice- president; Linda Bock, secretary; Natalie Borg, treasurer; and Brolene Bensema, S.C. Represen- tative. Homecoming Queen and King were Melinda Heikes and Tom Staggs and the senior attendants for Homecoming were Saebra Burkiett and Kurt Cecil. Caps and gowns and graduation an- nouncements were ordered. The class flower was chosen — the red rose — and the class motto was chosen: “No happy time that passes. Is ever really gone, If it leaves a special memory, For looking back upon. Brolene Bensema received the DAR award and Danny Rock received the SAR award. Melinda Heikes and Marty Johnson were selected as Queen and King at the prom which was held April 30 at the Heritage House in Peoria. Bac- calaureate was held on May 22 and the day we had waited for — GRADUATION — was held Friday, May 27. Top scholarship awards went to Shelly Timmons, Valedictorian, and Brolene Bensema, Salutatorian.
