Juniors ROW ONE: Darrel Burnett, President; Kelvin Sampson, Sec- retary. ROW TWO: Mrs. Klusman, Sponsor; Diana Tice, Treasurer. ROW THREE: Conrad Cattron, S. C. Represen- tative; Mr. Ward, Sponsor. It all began on that fatal day when school resumed in the fall of 1972. Sixty students, now upperclassmen, united for their second year of glorious education at Valley High School. Our class president, Darrel Burnett, tried to call our first class meeting to order. After many courageous attempts Mr. Ward, a class sponsor, finally subdued the deafening roar. Kelvin Sampson, class secretary, could be seen (but only if looked for) trying though unsuccessfully, to take down everything that was happening. Through the year our poor junior class endured many tortures, placed upon us by sponsors, Mrs. Susan Klusman and Mr. David Ward. Although we realized these hardships were quite necessary (because of the threat of a Prom in the gym with a few strands of crepe paper for a ceiling and peanuts on the floor ), we dreaded the thoughts of selling candy bars, jerseys, running the junior stand at noon, and working in the stand during football games and track meets. As Homecoming time neared, we juniors took time off from our busy schedule to select our Homecoming attend- ants, Margie Suydam and Chuck Courson. With much ado we decorated our Homecoming car with the theme, Happiness Is . . . Somewhere Over the Goal Post. The sands of time quickly slipped through the hourglass and the Prom was upon us. Our trusty treasurers, Nancy Kidwell and Diana Tice, informed us of our monetary situation which was sounder than the Chase-Mahattan's. Our theme for the Prom held on April 28 was Precious and Few. With Prom over, our year was coming to an end. Our finale was the Chicago trip on May 5 via a chartered bus. We are all looking forward to our senior year at our brand new Valley. 24
