Compliments of LYLE'S SERVICE STATION — Maquon Faculty Snaps

Page 18 text:

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: J. Homer. Treasurer; Mr. Ketthly and Mrs. Kennelly, Advisors; W. Anderson. S. C. Rep. SEATED: D. Wilmot, President; S. Miller, Secretary. Class history Forty-nine eager seniors are preparing to board Rocket '58 from Valley Senior High School which will take them into the future. During the three year preparation period these students had some enthusiastic leaders who led them in many memorable experiences. The first year Wayne Anderson, president; Carolyn Peterson, secretary; Roger Reed, treasurer; and Barbara Pauli, S. C. Rep., headed the class. At the annual homecoming celebration Sally Miller and Arlen Mason represented the sbphomore class as their King and Queen candidates. During the eventful second year the class delegated Alan Harler as president; Joyce Beck, secretary; Ann Sullins, treasurer; and Dean Wilmot, S. C. Rep. The junior King and Queen candidates were Carolyn Peterson and Wayne Anderson. The juniors put their acting abilities into the class play Dotty arid Daffy. Aiming to realize these ambitions the class built a Stairway to the Stars for the prom. On May 25 the students put aside the chaos of their junior year to enjoy a trip to Chicago. As the time for the take-off neared the senior class was led forward by Dean Wilmot, president; Sally Miller, secretary; Janice Homer, treasurer; and Wayne Anderson, S. C. Rep. Barbara Pauli and Dean Wilmot were proclaimed King and Queen, ruling over the homecoming events. The Family Nobody Wanted was put on the stage at V.H.S. during this last year. The date of graduation brings the preparation period to an end and the graduates board the rocket, decorated in the class colors of ice blue and silver. A large banner which has the class motto Knowledge is Power written on it flies from the ship. The faculty sincerely hope that these adventurers have acquired that knowledge which will serve them well. As the rocket prepares to leave, Mrs. Kennelly and Mr. Keithly, the class advisors, say good-by to the graduates who are each wearing a gardenia. As they leave V.H.S. the graduates are confident of a successful journey into the future because Knowledge is Power. 14 Compliments of KEITH EDMONSON — London Mills; SPOON RIVER CAFE — Fairview
