CLASS HISTORV Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm was the motto of the class of '55. We were not particularly noted for our talent or accomplishments, but like other typical teen-agers, we had plenty of enthusiasm. Our history began when as 64 humble sophomores, we entered senior high school. We were a bit confused during the first week, but soon got into the swing of things; joined organizations, and made new friends. For our class officers we selected Stanley Etter, president; Terry Douglass, secretary; David Mason, trea- surer; Marlene Wood, student council representative; and Harold Smith, parlia- mentarian. Our standing advisors were Mr. Maxey and Mr. Keach. The first party we sponsored was a skating party held in Canton. Soon it was Homecoming time, and Fayrene Woods and David Mason were the sophomore candidates for king and queen. Our junior year we discovered, was to be a busy one. First there were class rings to decide upon, and then the junior play, Skidding. Serving as class officers were Harold Smith, president; LeRoy Roberts, secretary; Helen Higgs, trea- surer; Carolyn McDonnough, student coun- cil representative; and John Craver, par- liamentarian. We elected Helen Higgs and Bill Cannon to represent us at Homecoming. We also took time out to sponsor an all school Barn Party, and then proceeded to make plans for the Prom. We used a Rainbow theme which was very effective and which featured an outdoor cafe where refreshments were served. After running the concession stand all year, we were rewarded by taking our hard-earned money to Chicago where we stayed at the Palmer House. We became a bit too familiar with the back stairways, perhaps, but everyone had a swell time. All too soon, it was our senior year, and it seemed that time had certainly flown since we had come to Valley. Our final class officers were Larry Rench, president; Ruth Anderson, secretary; Naomi Barker, treasurer; Dale Ander- son, student council representative; and Dick Hahn, parliamentarian. Every- one got spruced up on September 15, and senior pictures were taken. Home- coming was pretty important to us this year since Eleanor Ball and Dick Hahn were elected king and queen. To top it off, we defeated Southeastern 7-0 in our Homecoming game, so we were all in good spirits. When March rolled around it was time for the senior play, and Ever Since Eve went over very well. As our days at Valley grew num- bered we proceeded to plan for Senior night. Baccalaureate, and finally on May 27, our graduation. Marlene Wood was chosen for the D.A.R. award, and Stanley Etter received the boys' citizen- ship award. So at last we say good-bye” to dear old Valley, where we have all had some wonderful times, and with our motto Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm as our guide, we push on to future goals. Compliments of DR. KEITH H. FRANKHAUSER Avon, Illinois

CLASS PROPHECV It all happened so quickly; here I was standing in the spotlight in front oi a i V audience, the main charact on the famous show, This is Your Strife”! The first guest is Eleanor Ball, the celebrated author and biographer of the new book Hahny on the Hill . The next person to greet me is Ruth Anderson, who with her famous husband is raising a new line of Herefot with blond tails called Ruthiefords . Appearing next is Ed Burkhead, better known as Tennessee Eddy , the latest Hillbilly crooner, and his publicity agent Bill Cannon, who, in his spare time is bouncer at the Duck Club. The last familiar face on the show was Jim Ford who recently broke the light barrier. When asked, upon return, for a description of his journey answered. I don't know, it was too dark to see. Another great surprise came after the show when 1 was guest of honor at a party, where I met the rest of my old classmates. I was surprised when Dale Anderson appeared. He recently became the proud father of red-haired quin- tuplets. Helen Higgs, the famous journalist, is working on her latest scoop, the accident of the week. It seems David Hollister, the talented magician is present, however, his assistant in his famous buzz saw act, Rosemary Hollis was unable to attend. It seems the saw slipped. Shirley Tracey is now a private eye, ear, nose, and throat. In this way she covers more territory. Beverly Pauli is in business with Lily Dache. Beverly makes the wigs to go under Lily's hats. Dorothy Elliott, just recovered from a broken arm caused by overestimating her strength while bending a pretzel. It took Dr. Stanley Etter three twists and two turns to get her back to normal. He's now up for nomination to receive the PULLitzer prize. Chella Madge Dunbar is manager of a new puppet show called Mutt and the Madge-Masters. This show features live puppets; she has them on the string. Fred Ehrenhart is a prosperous combination minister-undertaker. This business does quite well as his motto is Two services for the Price of one. His grave-digging assistant is Richard Hahn whose motto is “Happy go Icky. Naomi Barker is now teaching Shorthand at the newly completed Valley High School. One of her prize pupils is Larry Barkley who as principle of the school, is working on a new system of post-graduate work. Glen Cluts, now a dancing instructor arrived with the stars of his latest premier. They are Ronald Cozad, specializing in tap dancing, and John Craver, famous ballet dancer. Carol Dallefeld is now running an adoption agency. Furnishing the diapers for her home are Dorrance Doubet and Terry Douglass, who own and operate the ”Doug-a-Dou Diaper Service. Carrying on the family tradition is Harold Smith, who is a Fuller Brush Salesman. His favorite products have the Wood handles. Neva Vollmar, piano virtuoso is currently touring the country with her brother George. Barbara Myers is a lady life-guard at Pizmo Beach. Recently she saved Gary Shellcrosslee who was diving for snails. Mildred Crumbley is now a public speaker, currently talking on TV Fashions. James Shover is starring in the latest movie hit Brain Mutiny depicting the life of a famous surgeon. Sonia Martin, a folk-dance instructor for Aurthur Hurry, has specialized in the Scottish. Just remarried for the seventh time is Sue Ryden. Her new husband is Tommy Mansville, Jr. Carol Folkenroth, back on the farm is now supplying butter for Toast of the Town . Her butter doesn’t just lay on the bread, it spreads itself. While talking to Phyllis Hagaman. I learned she still had iron deficiency, and needing exercise, her docto recommended that she dig her own iron. Compliments of - BROWN SONS GROCERY - Avon. Illinois
