First Time in Nevada Anytown! Anytown! Whether you're black, white, red or brown, makes no difference when you come down to Anytown! The Anytown ex- perience teaches high school students how to alleviate racial prejudices through a variety of personal experiences. Approximately 112 students from high schools throughout Southern Nevada attended the first Anytown session in Nevada at Lee Canyon. On the way up to camp on the bus, there was a slight sense of animosity in the air. We were all looking at each other as if we were on the way to attend a national 'geek' 81 jerk festival. Surprisingly, from the moment we ar- rived, to the moment we left, there was a total change in everyone's attitudes. Through fireside sings, group discussions and 'free time', we all became a part of each other: it was like one big nonprejudice, totally understanding society. Unfortunately, it had to come to an end. So we packed up and loaded our same items back on to the same buses with the same people - the only difference being that were now different, changed individuals . . . - That's what Anytown IS all about! - Traci Smith - A
