Bienvenidos Hispanicos al mundo de los Latinos. Does this look foreign to you? Well, all Spanish speakers could relate to this during the week of December 5-9, Hispanic Week. lt was filled with many activities ranging from guest speakers, hall decorating, food sales, and daily announcements. Members elected Hispanic Royalty: Senior Queen Hilda Varona, junior Prince and Princess limmy Barbeau and Maggie Farfan, and Sophomore Duke and Dutchess lose Flores and Madeline Gon- zales. Participants ofthe Vikings Hispanic Week stated, it was a huge success and should be looked up to by all nationalities! Traci also studied hard in the International Bac- calaureate program. Traci enjoyed the academic excellence of Valley High because of the experience she had in the IB program. Traci said about her job as president of Human Rela- tions!Soul Club, I feel like we as a group have alleviated a large amount of -the racial animosity between Valley's students. Shannon Brown was one of Valley's most versatile students. Not only did she play on the Varsity Volleyball Team for three years, but she also was a member of Thor's Hammer for three years. She was interested in racquet- ball, glider flying, computers, music, and animals. While pursuing her in- terest in writing, she was sports editor in chief in her senior year. She was a member of the National Quill and Scroll and National lunior Newswriters Assoc. Shannon plans to go to college and major in physical therapy or physical education. Shannon feels that an athlete's first priority is to excel in education and then excel in sports. For the first year Valley is adding a new feature to its yearbook: Senior Spotlight, a feature section on some of Valley's most prestigious students. These students all have some outstanding qualities, be it sturdy GPA's or an overabundance of school splrlt All interested seniors were informed by the publications staff to pick up and fill out an application at the Government Booth, pro bing their interests and attitudes concerning their hobbies, contributions, activities, and future plans during and after Valley All applications were reviewed by representatives from the administration, counselors, faculty, yearbook staff, and the student body
