J The dance took place on . December 16 in the VHS 2 5 cafeteria. Not only was the dance complete with refreshments, lights and decora- '53 tions, but Santa Clause stopped L by to wish us all Christmas x 1 cheer and to pose for a few pic- tures. Many of the students at Valley displayed their dancing skills by doing the new dance called the Break. The music was provided by Solomon Braun and his Music Company. 260 A VHS Celebrates Dress-up Days Fashion Show Banquet Assembly Royalty Band TLC Slide Show Marriage Ceremonv Black History Week was held Feb. 6-10. The week began with spirited dress-up days: Monday, punk dayp Tuesday, backwards dayp Wednes- day, celebrity dayp Thursday, reverse day, and Friday, red, black, and green day. Other activities during the week included putting on a show at lohn S. Park, a fashion show banquet, and the finale, an assembly held Friday. The assembly entertain- ed the student body with a marriage ceremony, the band TLC, and a slide show recognizing famous black men and women. The black royalty was crowned at the assembly: Traci Smith, queen, Rickey Hampton, king, Tammy lones, princess, Roni Fuller, prince, Rachael Frazier, duchessp and Keith Green, duke. Tyrone Thompson, who con- tributed a great effort in the week, stated, All the hard work and effort put in Black History Week was brought forth through the outcome of the assembly. P94 f
