When you can do the common things of life in an uncommon way, you will command the attention of the world. - George Washington Carver - Mu Alpha Theta is a group of mathematically gifted students. The club serves to tutor students with lower math classes who are referred to the organization by their math teachers, and these students compete in various math contests. The Sun Youth Forum provided an opportunity for the students of the Clark County School District to express their views on subjects related to school, county, state, and nation. Interested Vikings responded to an an- nouncement seeking candidates for the Forum. Once selected, students were assigned a topic area. After some thought and preparation, the students spent an entire day discussing their designated topics with students from the other schools assigned to the same area of discussion. At the end of the session, students from each group selected one person to summarize their discussions. Michelle Kennedy was selected to sum- marize her discussion of School Daze on KLAS TV 8. Sponsored by the Las Vegas Sun Newspaper, the Sun Youth Forum allowed the students of Clark County to be heard as well as seen. lt also helped expose the com- munity to some thoughtful insights of problems facing us today as seen by our students. i l Michelle Kennedy, Valley's representative on KLAS TV 8.
