Boys' and Girls' State are organiza- tions to provide insight into our state government and legislature. Orga- nized by the American Legion, these students were sent to Fallon, Nevada, for a week-long conclave. Delegates, chosen by the counselors, formed their own governing body and elected their peers to political office. Delegates to Boys' and Girls' State travel to Carson City for a final day of sightseeing and politics. These stu- dents then run their mock legislature in the senate and assembly chambers of our representatives there. S. Sun Youth Forum This year's Sun Youth Forum convened on December first for the 23rd annual meeting, They met at the Las Vegas Convention Center to discuss such topics as Ne- vada today , the teenager and school daze . The stu- dents involved are selected by counselors and come from many different schools. The Forum advisers choose seven finalists who will prepare summaries for the Sun newspaper to run daily. The finalist from Valley were Cliff Hannel and Sherri Hess.
