Senior Scholasticsn The Senior year is one of many challenges and opportunities. The faculty and administration have made attempts to revise and mod- ernize the curriculum, especially that concerning the Senior Class. Most extensive of this program is the Adult Living Class. The four divisions of the course are: Shop, Physiology, Psychology, and Home Economics. Shop is under the direction of Mr. Krienlte. He's new at VHS, and both he and his students have learned as the year passed. Shop activities include: plan drawings, refinishing-and then reassembling the parts in the correct order. Mr. Krienke is also the assistant and B-team basketball coach. Physiology is headed by Mr. Harper. Being a three year veteran, he is well-known by all. This part teaches the students the physical aspects of their future lives. Shy- ness is definitely not advantageous in this class. Mr. Harper is also the An- nual Advisor, and Student Council Sponsor. How he finds time for his exten- sive business trips is a mystery to us all. Miss Parkening is the psychoanalyst of VHS. She shows us the various ways people attempt land succeedj to escape reality. Within the nine weeks of this 46 5 E

Logic and Intuitive Thinking Mr. and Mrs. Dounay arrive each morning while many of the students are still in bed. Mr. Konaniz doesn't make it until later, but then Mercuries wake up earlier than do Volkswagons. Little cars like lit- tle children need more sleep. If its happening in Physics or Chemistry or Math, these people are involved. 45

Miss Parkening also teaches Senior English, and was moderator of the debates. Mrs. I-Ieisner has charge of the Home Economics Department. Her activities rarge from refereeing fights over the last drumstick, to showing how check books can be balanced. It being her fourth year of teaching at VHS, she has become quite close with many of the students. 47
