All 'ir 3 S' R Qxjref, i 5 5 up WE! 6' ini Golden Tongue Orators Valley attended Conference Speech Contest March 7, at Gretna. All partici- pants were rated from 'superior' to 'good', so we felt very successful. In per- suasive speaking, Debbie Lind earned a 'superior' rating. Barb Keeler also re- ceived a 'superior' rating for her oral interpretation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Even though our one-act play, Impromtu , did not take the trophy, Wendy Fisher, Linda King, Bob Mazzone, and jim Buckley brought home a 'superior' rating, and Bob was awarded Best Actor. Mike Rinehart presented a satire dealing with television commercials and received an 'excellent' rating. Those receiving 'good' ratings were Rhonda McDonald in oral interpretation of poetry, Larry Daugherty in extemporary speaking, and oral interpretation of drama. The day was full of excitement, but also tiring, especially when we tried to get Bob's head into the bus. What better way could we end the day than Mama's eating pizza? Our attempts at District Contest March 17, in Blair were not so well received. We lost two entries, but added Kim Reichmuth to the team. Again, our ratings were 'good' and above, but we all dropped or stayed the same. As always, it was the judges---NOT US QREALLY! J. Still the day added to our experience. After trying three closed or too expensive restaurants, we gave up and came home to the BA. -Miss Cindy Jack- Sponsor W '... ' : J' 32
