All partici- pants were rated from 'superior' to 'good', so we felt very successful. In per- suasive speaking, Debbie Lind earned a 'superior' rating. Barb Keeler also re- ceived a 'superior' rating for her oral interpretation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Even though our one-act play, Impromtu , did not take the trophy, Wendy Fisher, Linda King, Bob Mazzone, and jim Buckley brought home a 'superior' rating, and Bob was awarded Best Actor. Mike Rinehart presented a satire dealing with television commercials and received an 'excellent' rating. Those receiving 'good' ratings were Rhonda McDonald in oral interpretation of poetry, Larry Daugherty in extemporary speaking, and oral interpretation of drama. The day was full of excitement, but also tiring, especially when we tried to get Bob's head into the bus. What better way could we end the day than Mama's eating pizza? Our attempts at District Contest March 17, in Blair were not so well received. We lost two entries, but added Kim Reichmuth to the team. The Terrier marching band also participated in the Giant Balloon Parade in Omaha. The faculty and administration have made attempts to revise and mod- ernize the curriculum, especially that concerning the Senior Class. Most extensive of this program is the Adult Living Class. The four divisions of the course are: Shop, Physiology, Psychology, and Home Economics. Shop is under the direction of Mr. Krienlte. He's new at VHS, and both he and his students have learned as the year passed. Shop activities include: plan drawings, refinishing-and then reassembling the parts in the correct order. Mr. Krienke is also the assistant and B-team basketball coach. Physiology is headed by Mr. Harper. Being a three year veteran, he is well-known by all. This part teaches the students the physical aspects of their future lives. Shy- ness is definitely not advantageous in this class. Mr. Harper is also the An- nual Advisor, and Student Council Sponsor. How he finds time for his exten- sive business trips is a mystery to us all. Miss Parkening is the psychoanalyst of VHS. Gir1's basketball was organized this year for the first time in V.H. S. history. Limited practice hours added to the complexity of the task, but the girls proved that with effort a decent showing can be made. The season was a success in the sense that the fundamentals of the game were introduced and carried out to some degree of efficiency. The future looks bright with the returning varsity, as well as the many reserves and junior high which showed promise throughout the year. The Class of 73 started out as most freshmen classes do--bewil- dered, excited, and overshadowed by upperclassmen. The initiations by seniors were the first in a long line of making fools of ourselves. New romances and friendships evolved and the year progressed as normally as possible. Participation in sports and organizations began, a little clumsily at first, but as the years went by, the mighty class of 73 proved themselves as more- than-able competitors. Seniors E. NOYBS D.
