The dismissal bell at 2:00 did not signal the end of another day, rather the beginning of one of the most practical learning periods. Students relaxed and talked with friends, while at the same time they developed their own personal way of dealing with people. They learned ways to express their ideas and communicate with peers, as well as adults. The athletic programs began their many long hard practice hours after school each day. Participants learned discipline, control, coordination, and cooperation. Teachers got into the act by sharing their talents through coaching students as well as sponsoring various activities. Extracurricular activities proved to be the best part of many a student's day. 3 eww- 21
