Valley got its third vice principal, and its first woman administrator in several years with the addition of Marlene Dunaway. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a BS. in Mathematics and an MS. in school Administration. Marie Hayes, the student activities director, had a really busy year as it was one of the most active years ever at Valley. The most noticable difference in this year's administration procedures was the change of policy relating to attendance. Instead of calling a stu- dent to the attendance office for skip- ping class, when a student gets five unexcused absences in a class his grade was dropped a letter grade. Whether a student was excused or not was left up to the individual and his teacher. Another difference, much to the delight of the student body, was an open campus during lunch. Students were not restricted to the school grounds and could eat anywhere they wanted.
