Humanities, Other New Courses Enrict ff? Mr. Parker's Junior class discuss contemporary poetry. Carefully laid plans for enriching the English Department's program were successfully initiated this year. Eight new courses were offered ranging anywhere from vocabulary building to literary back- ground. The junior U.S. History and English com- bined class was again renewed after having dropped it for a year. One of the most interesting new courses is the English IV Honors and Humanities course. This is a class of Senior students who excel in English studies. The half credit course of humanities was newly attached this year. Three days a week the class meets for two hours to pursue their studies in philosophy, literature, music, art, and man. . J, if BOB BLAGG VIC CROCCO M. A. GARCIA SIMMIE GIBSON Two New Courses Gfferec From Egyptian pharaohs and pyramids to the U.S. and the Liberty Bell ... to Campaign '68 ... These were some of the topics covered in the Social Studies Department under the direction of Robert Werstler. Besides the required U.S. History and World History, four other electives were offered. S Two new courses were added this year. Social Studies Seminar offered study in a variety of Social Sciences. Students did extensive study in such social problems as revolutions, their history and their different causes and effects. Students also turned in term papers dealing with social problems, world prob- lems, and politics. Anthropology, another new course, studied man and his history. Field trips to museums and caving projects were a part of the class's program. Sociology which dealt with social and personal problems was a Senior course for students who were interested in current international problems.
