There were many strong and mixed emotions when we lost a great Viking. Paul Harlles Nutter, Sr., an honorary Viking, passed on to the arms of the Ageless Shep- herd on June 13, 1958. Mr. Nutter was a well-liked, quiet, and soft-spoken man who served the Valley High School students for four years. He was gentle but firm and earned the respect of the students. His absence has created a void in the lives of the friends he left behind, but we cannot forget that we are a better people because we knew him here on earth. ,A -A ,I V in . ff V , N K S. The Viking record this year has been outstanding in many areas of school life. A special commendation is due to our faculty and students who have re- peatedly brought honor to our school. Valley High School students will always point the way to the future. ERNEST STAPLETON Q17 xr' vwf I am very happy and proud to be working at Valley High School in its administrative offices. All the faculty and students have been most cooperative and have made my work very pleasant. I sincerely believe our yearbook is the finest and I wish it success in all future issues as in the past. NELL BOWERS fidx 5-1 I consider it a privilege to be associated with such a fine school as Valley. The warm informal friend- liness of our principal, Mr. Stapleton, and our As- sistant principal, Mrs. Ferguson, makes work a pleasure in the office-and the spirit of the student body is outstanding. GENEVIEVE ROZELL Planning, working and partici- pating in your school activities for the past five years has made me very proud to be a member of the administrative staff of Valley High School. May each of you make it a part of your school planning to do your bit to make your school life better in all respects, and to add something to the tradition of the Viking Spirit which has made Val- ley High School known through- out New Mexico. Many times this calls for patience, tact, and much sympathyg but above all, the assistant must lend a listening ear and show a spirit of courtesy and friendliness. The nurses office is a business office just as any other office at Valley. The conduct of each assistant and how well she performs her tasks keeps this office efficiently organized. The Nurses Aids treat slight burns. cuts, and strataliesg and they are well xersed on the rules of first aid. These girls are also taught to keep the nurse'S office clean. and tidy. All of this training is good preparation for those who wish to pursue a nursing career, They are leri Seated, Phyllis johnson. Mrs. Hulse. We will best remember Everett for his HCUVC PaffiCiP21fi00 in 5P0ft5- Hs enjoyed and excelled in football and track. This poem symbolized liveretts way ot life at Valley High for it was found among his possessions ntter his death. The laughter ringing through the halls, That letter that you finally got. The boys leaning against the walls: With hope and work and sweat was bought The huddles of girls with whom you talked, Assemblies, meetings, and dances, too. The smiling friends with whom you walked Every minute something to do, The rush to beat the final bell The girl that cheered you on each day To be in your seat before the teachers' yell The boy that helped you along the way The five minute break at each hours' end Laughter, smiles, Work, and tears just enough time to see your best friend Love, joys, and fears The tears you shed when we lost the game A little more or a little less That would have brought our team such fameg This WHS y0u1' life 2iIV.H.S.
