-55 'V L,..g--1 -...- Nr, . ,P- i 'k 'A' 'A' 'k HE purpose of this book is not to present to you a collection of carefully posed photographs and prearranged displays, but rather to make it possible for you in the space of a few minutes to live the life of a Cadet in the VALLEY FORGE MILITARY ACADEMY. Entering the main gate you will walk up the beautiful entrance roadway and stop at the Administration Building to be greeted by the Superintendent in his office. You will inspect the various oflices and buildings, the classrooms, the completely equipped hospital, and look into a Cadet's quarters. You will walk over the beautiful grounds so many young men have come to know and cherish with fond re- niembrances. Through the pictures iII this book you will meet the various members of the faculty and sit with them in their classrooms. YOU wII.L REALIZE IT IS METICULOUS PLANNING THAT SENDS OUR GRADUATES TO THE MosT SUPERIOR AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVER- SITIES WHERE THEY MAKE Us JUSTIFIABLY PROUD OF THEIR OUTSTANDING RECORDS. THE ACADEMY PROGRAM IS so ARRANGED THAT FORTY-SEVEN HOURS PER WEEK ARE DEVOTED TO CLAssRooM INSTRUCTION, INDIVIDUAL- IZED ASSISTANCE AND SUPERVISED STUDY. BY WAY OF CoNTRAsT ONLY FIVE HOURs PER WEEK ARE ALLOTED TO MILITARY DRILLs AND INSPECTIONS. Proceeding from the classrooms, you will worship with your son in the pure simplicity of the Cadet Chapel and thrill with him as he passes in review on the parade ground to the music of a fifty-piece band. Your heart will skip a beat as you watch the strenuous finish of a track event or as you hold your breath in an exciting moment of a football and baseball game. You will become acquainted with some of our distinguished visitors as they inspect the Corps or take part in special exercises. Do all these things without leaving your comfortable chair as you turn the pages of this book, for it is its purpose to present to you a picture of the varied activities and influences which serve to mold and direct the life of a boy in the Corps of Cadets of the Valley Forge Military Academy. You will find the activities pictured here to be many and intensely varied, but all conceived and executed with one purpose-that of developing your son to be a strong, honest, intelligent and successful young man. i' Ik 'A' t 'A'
