Orchestra accompanies Anita Pontremoli during assembly. They Entertain Members of the Valley Forge Orchestra rapidly discovered that being a musician requires more than the ability to translate musical notes into sound. Daily practice kept players at the peak of their abili- ties. In addition to the annual fall, winter, and spring concerts, the orchestra competed in the State Orches- tra Contest, where they won a Superior rating from all four judges. Music from Bach to Gershwin found its place in the orchestral repertoire. Outstanding members of the orchestra took part in the Lake Erie League Festival and in the All-State Orchestra. Joe Hruby acknowledges the audience's appreciation for his cello solo. After football season the membersgof Valley Forge's Marching Band regrouped into the Concert and Symphonic bands. The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. David Petrella, performed in con- certs throughout the winter and spring seasons.
