Mr. Elliott directs during a . - ,M . , . ,als V , ,. A Cappella choir practice. Girls' Choir rehearses for the Christmas Chorale. A Cappella And Gir1's The finest in choral excellence at Valley Forge was displayed by the 1965-66 A Cappella Choir. Mr. John F. Elliott directs the ninety-two melodious voices. Leadership and organization were given by this year's officers: President, Roy Hasbrookg Vice-President, Richard Boyer, Secre- taries, James Meinke and Suzanne Ratzloff 3 and Treasurers, Suzanne Arndt and Kathleen Riley. Besides the traditional concert, the Christmas season activities included a festive party and caroling at Parma Community Hospital and at the annual Parma Heights tree-burning ceremony. In the spring, A Cap- pella participated in the LEL Choir Festival and district and state contests. The A Cappella Choir ended the 1965-66 season with a spring concert and a performance at commencement. To become a memorable performing group the Girls' Choir strived for exactness of blend and dynamics. The choir presented selections ranging from pre-classical to contemporary music. Mr. Elliott conducted the girls in the District Band and Choir Contest in the spring. The choir participated in local concerts and in the Sound of Music production. Shawan, B. Mooradien, R. Boyer. The guidance of Mr. John Elliott, musical director, has brought the choirs of Valley Forge to their present point of excellence. During the year, the Girls' Glee Club worked with Girls' Chorus on secular and religious music, and the Boys' Glee Club perfected the tone and harmony of their music. Comprised of selected A Capella Choir members, the Madrigal Club performed at school and civic functions. Singers were selected on the basis of their ability to sight read and the blend and harmony of their voices.
