lr Editor's Letter In April of last yearetwenty-five enthusiastic but inexperi- enced students were appointed to various positions which they could not accurately define. During the next three lmonths the new staff members learned what would be expected of them in the year to come by working with the previous editors. Formation of the book began during the early weeks of sum- mer vacation. 'The editors met once a week, planning pages and working the theme into their sections. By the time school began most sections were prepared for their final drafting. More difficult phases of yearbook production followed Duri this school ear many important decisions were - D8 Y Q made: hundreds oi' pictures were taken: endless copy was written and revised: captions and headlines were created: proofs were read, corrected and sent back to the printer. Ten months later these efforts resulted in this, your yearbook. I would like to extend my thanks to the dedicated energetic staff with whom I have worked. Hoping to create an outstanding and memorable yearbook, these conscientious people have worked countless hours. ' I would also like to thank Mr. David Smith for his valuable advice, assistance and encouragement: Mr. Paul Retrum of Art- master Printing whose creative and constant supervision has made unbearable tasks bearableg Mr. Edward Bonk of Stan's Studio for his outstanding attention to our photographic needs: Miss Barbara Irwin for helping to design the cover and assisting with layout plans: Mr. Irving Lloyd for his exceptional candid pictures of school life: Mrs. Lillian Heffke our Business Adviser for her able and efficient handling of financial matters: and Miss Suzanne Murphy, our yearbook adviser, who through her patient and tireless direc- tion made this book possible. Work on the 1966 Archive has been rewarding for me both in the personal satisfaction and in the experience gained. I hope the efforts of the staff is proportioned to the enjoyment that the student body will find in reading the book now and in future years. 21 gi E if i S 1? i S QE . N. Tomorrow We Lead We, the senior class of Valley Forge, have come to another point of diversion on the road of life. As we decide which path to pursue after graduation, the memories of our achievements as a class give us confidence in our abilities to choose wisely. In the three years we have spent at Valley Forge, we have experienced many victories: LEL titles in football, basketball and wrestlingg the superior ratings of our speech classes and musical groups, and the great success of My Fair Lady which led to the production of The Sound of Music. Yet, it is not because of these honors that we cherish Valley Forge. A bus full of CP English students returning from a production of Macbeth, enthusiastic cheering at a crowded lunch table, the five-minute break between classes spent talking to friends in crowded halls-these daily experiences will be missed the most. The spirit of Valley Forge has been strong during the past three years, . . . and that has made all the difference. 229
