Grapplers Continue To Lead L.E.L. In the referee's position, Lee Barylski anxiously awaits the whistle. Winter 1966 marked another winning season for the Valley Forge wrestling team. Coached by Mr. Rudo and Mr. Ruper, the matmen captured their-third straight L.E.L. championship with a 6-0-1 record. The team displayed remarkable depth with ten of eleven varsity grapplers experiencing victorious campaigns. Outstanding leadership came from seniors Dwain Kibler Q10-0-13, Joe Drago C11-11, Pat Sturtevant C10-1-D, and Ron Cooper C12-03. Contributing to the team effort were juniors, Lee Barylski Q9-SJ, Mike Sawicki Q8-25, and Woody Barry Q9-2-lj and sophomores, Bob Lade C7-31, Tim Cahal C2-lj, and Dennis Coupe Q7-1-11. Kibler, Drago and Sturtevant won titles at the Brecksville Holiday Tournament, Sawicki, Barry, Drago, Sturtevant and Cooper grabbed sectional championships. The high points of the season were Patriot vic- tories in the Brecksville Tournament, in the Sec- tional Tournament, and in the Euclid match, where Valley Forge swamped its L.E.L. rival, 25-11. Mr. Rudo proudly stated, Valley Forge has gained a reputation as one of the wrestling powers in this area. . The Junior Varsity wrestling team, coached by Mr. Wright, tied for the league title. Under the coaching supervision of Mr. Kaiser, the Valley Forge bowling team possessed first place in the handicap division of the Greater Cleveland Interscholastic Bowling League and eyed the league championship with three-fourths of the season completed. Ken Mixter led the Patriots with a 185 average which was third-high in the league. Captain Jerry Docktor, with a 268, rolled the highest game in the league. The bowlers competed with twenty-four schools at Linz Superior Lanes. Keglers Triumph 0n The Lanes Mr. Kaiser examines team scores before the tenth frame.
