Mr. Stuart Openlander Superintendent of Schools The board of education acts as the policy-making body for the Parma City School District. This year, with its new superintendent, Mr. Stuart Openlander, the Board strived for continued success. The former Superintendent of Dearborn, Michigan, was selected from a field of over ninety applicants to fill the position left open as a result of Mr. Paul W. Briggs' accepting the position of Superintendent of Schools in Cleveland. Mr. Arch Brown served as acting superintendent for the first semester in Parma. The sincere student finds that he always has an interested consultant to Whom he may turn during periods of indeci- sion or emotional turmoil. In these confer- ences vocational and educational plans are discussed as Well as personal difficulties. In. addition to the advice which the coun- selors give to college-bound seniors-, representatives of various industries and Mr. William Kuttler businesses visit the school to explain to vocational students the opportunities avail- able in the various fields of immediate employment. For the college-bound student a complete selection of college catalogues and related information is available in the library. College Night is also an event of special importance to college preparatory juniors and seniors and their parents, as it gives them an opportunity to personally meet with representatives of the Various colleges.

New Techniques in Cultural Arts Provide Mrs. Thelma. Knerr Head Librarian 4 Librarians, Miss Smith and Mrs. Snoddy, acquaint them- selves with new materials in the library. The students at Valley Forge are very fortunate to have one of the finest high school faculties in the country. Every poss- ible assistance is available to the students. Courses are offered in every field from arts seminar to industrial education. Advanced courses are offered in many fields. Each department is headed by a member of the faculty who is outstanding in his field. The teachers come from all over the country, and some from other parts of the World. Working permits, student registration, transfers and Withdrawals, and approval of posters are some of the duties of the secre- taries in the main office. The secretaries, with the help of their student aids, keep Valley Forge moving at a steady pace. A modern library is maintained for the use of the Whole student body. Many stu- dents devote their study halls to assist and aid the librarians. The library is equipped with volumes of books and magazines.
