TUBA, BARITONE: Monoc Kispert, Thumson, Tinay, Coyner, Slade, Zizka, Hoelter Mr. Petrella. leads a rehearsal of the Symphonic Band. The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Mr. David Petrella, performed concerts in December, March, and May. Selected mem- bers of the band competed in the Greater Cleveland Solo and En- semble Contest, and the entire band participated in the Ohio Music Education Association Dis- trict 4 Contest. The band was selected by the North Central Auditions Committee to perform a concert and demonstration at Indianapolis, Indiana. A perform- ance at Commencement Exercises completed the year. I a u s

Herb Dregalla was this year's drum major. Doing' 'swirling routines with the band were the Liberty Belles. Jo Ann Wielgus wick, assistant directorg Mr. David Petrella, director. FIFTH ROW: Valent, Baloun, Barry, Dowdell, R. Black, J. Thompson, Kispert, Olmutz, Tinay, Monoc, T. Thomp- son, Slade, Hoelter, Benson, Coyner, B. Zizka. led the group. Other majorettes were Carol Hrioisin, Judy Heaton, Linda Kare, Sue Martin, Sharon Kaminski, Lin Kinbaum, Pat Frohman, and Donna Stuchlak. After hours of drilling, the precision of the marchers is displayed at half-time shows. 169

They Say It With Their Music Orchestra members rehearse a performance. Mr. Robert Cowden, the orches- tra director, feels that, The orchestra this year is the finest in Valley Forge's historyf' There are sixty-eight members this year as compared to thirty-two members when the orchestra was first organized. In addition to giving a fall concert, and two spring concerts, the orchestra also played in the State Orchestra Contest and at Baccalaureate Exercises. Selected members of the orchestra took part in the Lake Erie League Festi- val in February. Officers for 1964-65 were Cheryl Swanson, presidentg Jan Hern, vice-president, Cathy Basen, sec- retary, and Marty Cool, treasurer.
