The Baseball Team Slugs for Victories BASEBALL TEAM BOTTOM ROW: Savarda, Petito, Wydran, Spangler, Taylor, Zayac, Kencson. SECOND ROW: Plechaty, Nowak, Paul, Hartlieb, Madey, Mellis, In spring, a young man's fancy turns to baseball. Twenty-five boys were chosen out of the sixty that tried out for the varsity team. Under the watchful eye of head coach Mr. Steve Rudo, the Valley Forge Patriots practiced daily beginning in March. The 1963-1964 team finished the season with a twelve-win nine-loss record. This record Mayer. THIRD ROW: Coach Broski, Coach Rudo, Marek, Arnold, Guska, Manager Mikulas. left us in fourth place, tied with Parma. Four members, Dick Nowack, Bob Plechaty, Dan Urban, and Gene Zayac were chosen for the West All Star Team. Bob Plechaty was se- lected as the most valuable player on the team. GOLF TEAM-BOTTOM ROW: Coach Fritzsche, Meyer, Starre, Badema.n,,Corley, Scavone. SECOND ROW: Siebert, Van- Treuren, Such, Robertson, Goodwin, Chilcot, Speers, Meyer. Golf Practice Pays Off in Championship Dan Corley swings for successful season. The Valley Forge Golf Team was coached t by Mr. Fritzsche. Of the forty students who T tried out for the team only the best eight players were accepted. The team practiced every afternoon during the season. Ridge- wood Country Club was the home course but the team also played at Shaker Country club, Columbia Hills, and other courses. In 1964 the team won the LEL championship. Three players from that winning team returned this year. The goal of the team was not only to Win the LEL championship in 1965 but also to win the district tournament and qual- ify to play in the state tournament. Brian Starre tees off.
