RE PLANNED BY STUDENT COMMITTEES STUDENT ASSEMBLY ACOM- MITTEE SEATED: Sue Meeth, Gwen Miller, Ellen Messerknecht. STANDING: David Rodgers, Allen Musheno. The Student Assembly Committee, headed by Gwen Miller and advised by Mrs. Gladys Taliak, was responsible for the many pep rallies, musical concerts, and awards programs held during the 1963-64 school year. Two outstanding assemblies which featured pianist Frederic Sjobiarn and vocalist Maxine Titus were the apex of an excellent schedule of assemblies. The Stage Crew, advised by Mr. Bernard Specht, designed and built sets and provided lighting for the school plays. Headed by stage manager, Wayne Lukacsko, the group also provided props for con- certs, assemblies, and other auditorium programs. STAGE CREW C SEATED: .lim Sheridan, Chuck Richter. UIVIEROUS CANTEENS A D ASSEMBLIES CANTEEN COMMITTEE BOT- l TOM ROW: Donna Antonelli, Kathy Slach, Lee Major, Marsha Pergler, Georgene Tachuk. SECOND ROW: Debby Caves, Donna Sutak, Pat Frank- lin, Cathy Chaffin, Sue Meeth, Gail Kulcsar. THIRD ROW: Georganne Amon, Judy Zulauf, Jeannie Hulec, Gary Cumz, Melanie Radlick, SueAnn Pecora. The Queen's Dance and the benefit dance for CARE were two special projects of the Canteen Committee. This committee, advised by Mr. Donald Dinsmore, consisted of five mem- bers elected from each class with Gary Gumz as chairman, Patricia Offtermatt as assistant chairman, Marsha Pergler as secretary, and Cathy Chaffin as treasurer. The dances planned by the committee provided recreation for the student body, and the proceeds were used for a senior scholarship. Canteens provide a welcome change from the academic lives of students.

The Battlecry staff, advised by Mr. Lawrence Orosz, kept Valley Forge aware of the latest school news and activities. To supplement on-the-job experience, the staff attended the Cleveland Press Journalism Institute in the fall. They also made a display for open house which showed the steps in the production of a newspaper. Besides newspaper activities, the Battlecry staff sponsored many school social events. These included VF,s first hootenanny and the first Blue Battlecry staff puts final corrections on its copy before sending it to the printer. 92 SECOND ROW: Terri Tvorik, writer, Chuck Caron, first page editorg Paul Sullivan, photographer, Jesse Epstein, writerg Lee Major, advertisingg Pete Wachter, photographerg Bob Buker, business managerg Bob Truscello, sports writerg Lesli Ross. and White Night Dance, which honored the par- ticipants in the fall sports. Editor-in-chief of the Battlecry was Jan Trytekg first page editor was Chuck Caron, second page editor was Pat Kay, third page editor was Sharon German, fourth page editors were Bob Buker and Beverly Corsica, and business editor was Bob Buker. Mr. Kenneth Noetzel served as business adviser. Battlecry photographers, Paul Sullivan and Pete Wachter, appraise pictures for the next issue.
