The Valley Forge chapter of the Distributive Education Club of America, the only chapter in the Cleveland area, is closely associated with the dis- tributive education class, taught by Mr. Ronald Calabria. Distributive education is a vocational program, offering seniors an opportunity to gain a year's experience in their chosen fields of work as well as training in leadership and private enter- prise. Led by officers Marcia Pastor, presidentg Jeanette Ruth, vice-presidentg Lis Hansen, secretary- treasurerg and Pat Estenik, social chairman, the Distributive Education Club financed a spring trip to New York with profits from club projects.

SECOND ROW: Linda Kerins, Presenting information about nursing and intro- ducing related' careers were the purposes of the Future Nurses Club, under the supervision of Mrs. Shirley Maloch, the school nurseg and Miss Judith Sander. All girls interested in nursing were able to join this national organization, but after becoming members they were required to maintain high academic standings. By working as aids at area treasurer, Margie Hartman, secretary. hospitals during the summer, the future nurses gained much practical experience and also earned credit for volunteer work, which was required before they were awarded their pins. The girls attended several hospital open houses, made baskets for needy children and CARE, took their annual field trip, and had a banquet to end the year. THIRD ROW: Mary Ann Janda, Peggy Mruk, Diane Jost, Diane Creating more understanding in the intelli- gent choice of business occupations and develop- ing competent business leadership were two of the primary purposes of the Future Business Leaders of America Club, advised by Mrs. Helen Chase and Miss Rita Geroski. The group held a candy sale and a bake sale to raise money for a scholarship which was given to a senior pursuing a business course of study. The club also contributed food to needy families at Thanksgiving. Pat Evanchak was elected reporter in the North- eastern district of the Future Business Leaders of America, and the Valley Forge chapter prepared a periodic newspaper. This newspaper was a collection of club news which was distributed to every chapter several times during the year.
