RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING STUDENTS The National Honor Society was established to recognize students who excelled in character, lead- ership, service, and scholarship. Supervised by Mr. Donald Dinsmore, the group held a dance after the Shaw basketball game, sold candy and basketball pep buttons, and had a booth at the annual Spring Carnival tg raise money for the purchase of the fall and spring inductees' invitations and pins. As a service for the school, the Society posted many dis- plays on the bulletin board in the front of the cafe- teria. Ofiicers of the National Honor Society were Mike Yurcheshen, president, Bill Niro, vice-presi- dentg Gene Dornbrook, treasurerg and Bonnie Havel, secretary. THIRD ROW: Daniel Tobik, Barb Walder, Bonnie Hoffman, Janis Houck, The Future Teachers of America was a club organized for the students interested in teaching. At many of the meetings, guest speakers lectured on various topics, such as the planning of balanced educational programs, the responsibilities of the teacher, and the various teaching areas. One outstanding project of the club was raising funds for a scholarship for a senior interested in a teaching career. Another project was the donation Lynda Stepanek, Barbara LoCastro, Judy Presley, Jane Thomas, Linda Toth, Sue Carpenter, Barb Kent, Linda F ahrland. FOURTH ROW: David Kotasek, Sue Pecora, Donna Romoli, Nadine Davis, Nancy Kason, Dick Barth, Gary Gress, Carol Greenberg, Linda Werner, Karen Antall, Judy Zulauf, Ron Stepanik. of Christmas gifts to a home for retarded children and to a needy family. To provide funds for these projects, the club sold VF pennants and tickets to classical films. The officers of this group were Dan Tobik, presidentg Gef Foster, vice-president, Sue Zizka, treasurer, and Barb Dienes, secretary. Mr. Bernard Specht served as adviser.
