RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING STUDENTS The National Honor Society was established to recognize students who excelled in character, lead- ership, service, and scholarship. Supervised by Mr. Donald Dinsmore, the group held a dance after the Shaw basketball game, sold candy and basketball pep buttons, and had a booth at the annual Spring Carnival tg raise money for the purchase of the fall and spring inductees' invitations and pins. As a service for the school, the Society posted many dis- plays on the bulletin board in the front of the cafe- teria. At many of the meetings, guest speakers lectured on various topics, such as the planning of balanced educational programs, the responsibilities of the teacher, and the various teaching areas. One outstanding project of the club was raising funds for a scholarship for a senior interested in a teaching career. To provide funds for these projects, the club sold VF pennants and tickets to classical films.
