Representatives from the band took part in the solo and ensemble contest at Parma Senior High in February. In March, the Symphonic Band participated in the Ohio Music Education Associa- Bob Soppelsa. ORCHESTRA AND SYMPHONIC BA D EAR ORCHESTRA FRONT ROW: Carol Ekblad, Ray Broggini, Charles Smith, Nancy Kason. SECOND ROW: Vicky Partyka, Beth Bubuli, Maila Kling, Pat Brand. THIRD ROW: Pat Hosic, Sue Schaefer, Cathy Schaedel, Eileen Hannan, Janet Hern, Jan Samolis, Linda Mackert, Nadine Davis. FOURTH ROW: Gerry Concerto for Orchestra by Handel was one of the competition selections the Orchestra per- formed under the direction of Mr. Robert Cowden. Select members competed in the Greater Cleveland Solo and Ensemble Contest on February 15 and traveled to Bowling Green on February 22 for the State Orchestra Contest. Three concerts were given on November 2, March 13, and May 8. On February 7, the Orchestra attended Lake Erie Chappell, Sue Christian, Cindy Hasselschwert, Paul Reinke, Dick Ingersoll, Herb Dregalla. FIFTH ROW: 'Rick Goodyear, Lynn Shibley, Dan Tobik, Don Hartman, Bob Obenauer, Al Lewicki, Marty Cool. League Orchestra Festival where they combined with other LEL schools for a concert. The Orchestra performed at the All School Show on April 17 and 18 and ended their year by playing for the graduating seniors at baccalaureate. The officers were Carol Ekblad, president, Cheryl Swanson, vice-president: Nancy Kason, treasurer, and Cathy Schaedel, secretary. This group started to work on routines the third week in August and continued to work to perfect them during the early school year. Marching ahead of the band with VF's colors waving high, was the enthusiastic Spirit of '76.
