PRESENTED T0 DESERVING VF STUDENTS Recognition of those students with exceptional 5 i ability played a major role in the development of student leaders. Throughout the year, students of E distinction were awarded and honored by school officials and members of the student body for achievements in the areas of athletics and scholar- A ship. Realizing that awards brought esteem not only to the honored student, but to everyone at VFH, students were proud of the achievements of those classmates whose attainment merited recognition. This feeling was best exemplified by the enthusiasm and interest at functions given in honor of these students. Holding the highest average in girls' intramural bowling is VF junior Virginia Hughes. Recipient of the National Council ofTeachers ofEnglish Achievement Award,Ron Long is recommended for scholarships to all colleges. He poses with his senior and junior English teachers, Miss Callan and Mr. Dunford respectively. Honored for their football records are Dick Nowak, best linemang Guy Latimer, best backg and Tom Biller, most improved player. 59
